Motorized Focus Camera

Introduction

The focusing process done with the help of motors is called “motorized” focus. Generally, you can understand it the same as autofocus.

An autofocus camera is a camera equipped with a moveable motor-controlled lens, driven by an algorithm to detect the scene and focus the camera. Unlike a fixed-focus or manual-focus camera, the focusing process of an autofocus camera is handled by the software. Therefore, you can concentrate on framing the best image.

Bearing in mind the unavoidable trend, Arducam started to motorize the focusing process on 5MP and an 8MP camera module for Raspberry Pi series boards in 2018. While it became harder when the job is to deal with high-resolution cameras. After months research and development, we finally did it, with a software-controlled focus motor. So far, the Arducam autofocus Raspberry Pi camera module family includes dozens of SKUs from 5MP to 64MP.

Arducam is possibly the only company to offer a complete solution to autofocus on all Raspberry Pi camera models. We did not stop yet.
